| The Fly on the Wall
Once class starts, we're all completely unaware of the camera and class unfolds exactly as it did prior to our start of this video project. It's pretty much the same clients in the viewfinder, class after class, so you'll get to know them well. We will continue to experiment with camera angles and lighting. We have a professional-grade camera dolly - it's a monsterous piece of engineering - and can achieve virtually any angle that best shows you what you find most valuable to see. So I can best meet your needs, please let me know what you like and what you don't.
Special Series: Roll-Up for Hanukwanzmas
The 4 Roll-Up technique classes (aka "Whitney Gets her Roll Up" or "Roll Up for Hanukwanzmas") we've been teaching in 30-minute formats, 2 in November and 2 in December ending on 12/20, will be posted as a 2 hour download within a day or two of our completing the series.
These classes take place after our evening mat classes, there's a more relaxed environment with much more back and forth between me and our clients but the technical breakdown of what's happening in the spine and how to manage any barrier to the successful performance to a Roll Up is all in there. Whitney's question in Class #2 about the relevance of a Roll Up to her Teaser takes me off on a tanget of explaining (which is identical to the upper body ascent on Teaser) is all in there. You'll get all 2 hours for the price of one mat class.
The Future of WorldWidePilatesMat.com
We're currently working on setting up the e-commerce site for the purchase of a monthly subscription and a way for Pilates Excel students to receive a free subscription. We'll be sure to prominently announce on the purchase page as soon as those features become available.
Level of Class Inventory - What Comes Around Goes Around
Eventually, we'd like to have around 36 classes up at any given time and at the rate of filming 3 (of our 5) classes a week, it will take until February to get there. From the back end of the website, we'll track which are most popular and constantly weed out those that aren't being well received. We plan to include in the permanent offering the most viewed or we'll replace the same favorite type of class with a newly taught one that features a different mix of exercises. Then, ripping off Disney and Cher, we'll occasionally bring back an old original favorite for another go round - as you'll see, it's the client's comments that usually make a given class a classic and some, even in the dozen or so we've already filmed, are a riot. It's a possibility, with the unscripted and completely improvised nature of class, we may have to remove a particluar class for reasons of client comfort and if one disappears without explanation it may well be because of that. That aside, you'll always have another shot at seeing the most popular classes no matter how old they get or how many times they've been viewed.
Without You There is no US!
We truly and greatly appreciate your kind patience and support as we've struggled in getting this up and running. This project has, by far, been my most challenging in terms of coordinating resources which has been complicated by my East coast teacher training schedule. I think, finally, we're all in the same place at the same time. Barkeep! |
